I'm getting a little extra fluid today is as usual on day eleven. I thought I was keeping up pretty well yesterday, but then I woke up dizzy and weak. Tomorrow should be better.

I'm longing for Fall weather; browns and oranges and golds are increasingly appealing. We are planning a trip to the Columbia Gorge for the last week of September. Jim and Patty, John's brother and sister-in-law, will meet us in Hood River after a little preliminary tour of Portland. That will be AT or After Treatment. Needless to say I am looking forward to the break.

Wednesday we will drive to Spokane to see Dr. Grosen, my Gyn oncologist. I'm a bit worried that she will find something not quite right. This is just superstition as I have no reason to be concerned. We're planning lunch in Coeur d'Alene with friends afterwards and a leisurely return to Lewiston.

These are my most difficult days for some reason. Luckily tomorrow (day 12) will be better, or at least it always has been so far.

  1. your longing for the fall weather is natural. You have been given a huge amount of stress. Why? none of us really know the reason. Your strenght thus far is incredible, inspiring and just plain super. I know that alot of people are praying for you, care about you, and want everything to be bright and normal for you. The summer has been a literal fight, You want to get back to your normal routine. It sucks to be a patient. Hugs, Heidi

  2. Hi Kay -

Love the picture and your wonderful smile, even though you're not feeling tip-top. Hang in there! Your travel plans sound perfect and it's always nice to have something good to look forward to, especially in such a beautiful corner of the world.

It's miserably hot here again after a brief reprieve, but hope is on the way in the form of a mid-week forcast in the upper 80s. That will really make us feel like fall is coming! :-)

Stuart called from Qatar this week, but we weren't home to take the call. He sounded great and was headed out to fly. They're eight hours ahead of us and he's flying nights so we're hoping he'll try us again soon.

Isabelle will be coming to grandma and grandpa's next weekend. We're excited and trying to store up some extra energy since she runs us ragged.

My schedule's been fairly light so that I could write a lot of grant proposals in the past month, but my calendar is beginning to fill up, another sign that people are getting back from vacations and after Labor Day all will be back to normal.

I hope you're feeling better today and we'll be anxiously (and optimistically!) looking forward to your report from the doctor.

Love and hugs to you and John,
    Lynn and Dan

  3. Hi Kay, Finally was able to find the blog and follow your progress. It sounds as though you have been through lots and lots. My prayers go out for you. The support system sound incredible for you and that helps so much to know people are out there thinking about you. I have had you in my thoughts all summer. Dr. Grosen is so wonderful. She saw my mother-in-law and was so kind to her. I will plan a visit when I know you are feeling up to it. Take care. Our best to you. Diana and Steve Kottkey

  4. You have a great smile and don't you love the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? It was one of my all time favorites. I will be praying again for your visit to your Spokane Dr. You will "shine" I am sure. Prayers always.

Hey, I am walking again. 40 minutes at a crack and NO PAIN. Rather slow, but that is okay. I remember the tortoise and the hare. :)
